Yes that is right the door handle is a clip on part so after 2 or 3 years or less of use it becomes loose enough to fall off.

You want to pull it back enough so that you have enough room to slide your door handle back. You can permanently fix it for less then 2 00 your self. Once you slide the door handle back the front end will come out and then you can pull it back and up. The problem is that the door handle just clips into place.
